Letting It All Go: Waxing Tips for Smooth Skin & Total Confidence

Want smooth, spring-ready skin this season? Tired of dealing with constant shaving, irritation, and maintenance — but unsure what to expect from a professional wax? We’re here to walk you through the ins and outs of waxing services so you can feel confident and at ease.

As the warmer months roll in, it’s time to shed more than layers. Let go of dull winter skin and unwanted hair for a full-body refresh. That means saying goodbye to red razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and short-term fixes — and saying yes to professional waxing services that leave skin soft, smooth and radiant.

Meet Our Resident Waxing Specialist, Corey

And who better to guide you through the art of body waxing than our very own resident esthetician, Corey Ridler? With 17 years of hands-on experience in Marin and Sonoma Counties, Corey specializes in both body waxing and eyebrow design.

“Good waxing is an art,” Corey explains. “I’ve developed fool proof techniques that are not only effective but minimize discomfort. I want my clients to gain results tailored to their needs that leave them feeling great.”

What Kind of Body Waxing Do You Need? Let’s Break It Down

Whether you’re new to waxing or keeping up with regular appointments for maintenance, choosing the right service makes all the difference. Moonstone offers a full menu of options. Here’s how to decide what’s right for you:

  • Full Body Waxing – Removes hair from the full bikini area, legs, arms, and underarms.

  • Bikini Waxing – Tidies hair along the bikini line and some from upper thighs.

  • Brazilian Waxing – Removes everything from front to back and all in between.

Corey, an expert with Brazilian waxes, applies wax with a special technique. “I use a high-quality hard wax for the bikini area. It is designed to adhere to coarse hair, not skin. This makes it less likely to pull, cause discomfort or leave any lasting residue.”

Waxing doesn’t stop at bikinis. Consider treatments for legs, arms and back (full, upper or lower parts), chest and underarms. For the face, we’ve got you covered with nose, ears, lips, chin or go all-in with a full-face wax.

Eyebrow Waxing: The Art of Sculpting Brows

Brows are delicate territory — one wrong pluck and your whole look can change. Corey’s signature approach to brow design ensures that every arch is shaped with intention, precision and symmetry. Results are long-lasting, keeping you from reaching for the tweezers.

“I map out a custom plan for each client’s brow before I wax,” says Corey. “I then lay the hard wax just below the hairline, then pull individual hairs into it. That creates a perfectly manicured brow without compromising the shape. The results are flattering because the process is tailored for each unique brow. I keep in mind that each brow is authentic and individual!”

Pair your eyebrow wax with lip and/or chin waxing for a full-face refresh. Remember, brows are part of body care, and they deserve the same love.

Pre-Waxing Tips: What to Do Before You Come In

Getting waxed is a team effort. Your preparation helps your esthetician give you the best possible results.

Here's what to know:

DO:

  • Let your esthetician know if you’re using Retin-A or Biotin. Their interaction can affect your waxing results.

  • Allow your hair to grow to at least ⅛ inch. Feel free to trim before your appointment.

  • Take ibuprofen 30–45 minutes ahead if you're sensitive and haven’t waxed regularly.

  • Limit caffeine intake on the day of your service as it will heighten the senses.

DON’T:

  • Apply self-tanner, exfoliants, lotions, or oils before your appointment.

  • Drink alcohol right before. It will boost skin sensitivity.

  • Schedule during your period if you're prone to discomfort.

Post-Waxing Care: Keep That Glow Going

To keep your skin happy and smooth after waxing, follow these aftercare tips for staying power:

  • Avoid hot tubs, baths and showers, and sun exposure for at least 24–48 hours.

  • Skip harsh cleansers and scented creams for 1–2 days.

  • Wait to exfoliate for 2–3 days to prevent ingrown hairs.

  • Don’t shave between waxes. Target 4-week intervals.

  • Moisturize with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion.

The Takeaway: Body Confidence, Inside and Out

Whether it’s your first wax or your fiftieth, professional care makes all the difference. Maintenance year-round reaps the best results. With just a bit of prep and some mindful aftercare, waxing can help you feel confident, radiant and ready for spring and beyond.
